About Catoctin Ridge Château
At the Peak of Virginia Wine Country
Perched along the southeastern slope of the Catoctin Mountain ridgeline at an elevation of 833 feet, our vineyard thrives at the highest point east of the Blue Ridge Mountains, nestled in Loudoun County — Virginia’s premier wine region, known as “DC’s Wine Country.”
Just above, our hilltop winery stands at approximately 855 feet, offering 360° panoramic views of the Catoctin Ridge, rolling farmland, and open sky. We’re located only 55 minutes from Washington, D.C., 25 minutes from Dulles International Airport, and 15 minutes from historic downtown Leesburg — perfectly positioned between countryside tranquility and metropolitan convenience.
Our Family’s Commitment to Excellence
As a veteran-owned family estate, founded by Josh and Andrea Richter, retired military, and proud parents of four children, Catoctin Ridge Chateau embodies the values of service, family, and craftsmanship. Every detail — from the vineyard rows to the bottle design — reflects our deep respect for the land and our unwavering attention to detail.

Biodynamic Farming in Harmony with Nature
Our property is a living ecosystem, home to ducks, chickens, pigs, guinea fowl, dogs, a cat, and fish, as well as deer, wild turkey, eagles, bluebirds, bats, owls, hummingbirds, monarchs, and swallowtail butterflies. We practice biodynamic, organic, and permaculture farming, blending time-honored traditions with sustainable innovation to create wines of depth, purity, and place.
